In October MakeMusic announced a remix contest, featuring the Garritan World Instruments software instrument library. Since then more than 300 contestants have submitted remixes.
Today we’re announcing the winners in this contest, which was created in partnership with musician Matisyahu and online musician community Indaba.
The winner, picked by Matisyahu himself, is Projekt Theory.
Here’s what Matisyahu said about his decision:
“This is my Winner. It was not easy. In the end I choose this one. I love hooky synth line and the breakdown in the chorus. Also I love the slap back delay in the vocal verses. But what put me over the edge is the breakdown in the bridge and how he used all the World sounds but still made it sound so modern and fresh, it’s really what I tried to do on my last record Spark Seeker with the fresh beats and production and mixing old world instrumentation with it. Also the drum breakdown is how I imagined it in my original version but never realized the vision anywhere close to where you got it.”
On behalf of MakeMusic, I’d like to congratulate Projekt Theory. You can hear the winning remix, and those of the three popular vote winners, AND see the prizes they’ll receive, on the contest winner page.
On behalf of everyone here at MakeMusic, I’d like to wish you all a joyous holiday season and a happy New Year!
