Logic Pro X, released last month, is the latest update of Apple’s virtual recording studio. Among its many new features is MusicXML export. This allows users of Logic to export music notation and import it into other applications, including Finale, preserving more information than previously was possible using MIDI files.
Not sure who’d use this? Imagine creating a pop song or a movie soundtrack in Logic. After adding a string section, you decide to record real strings. Simply export a MusicXML file and open it in Finale (by stefan source). Notation items added in Logic are retained, and you enjoy all of Finale’s flexibility in making great-looking sheet music.
With Finale, Logic Pro X, and MusicXML, the process of creating world-class notation — for any project — just got a whole lot easier.
